The SFU Emergency Access Route Project was designed to make Burnaby Mountain Park safer and more accessible for everyone. The project created a 4-meter paved emergency route connecting Simon Fraser University with the Mintara Restaurant parking lot. Not only does this new route provide a reliable evacuation path for people of all ages and abilities, but it also includes a gas service connection for the restaurant and communication conduits for future needs. This project was a top priority to ensure easy downhill evacuation and quick access for emergency vehicles, giving everyone peace of mind when enjoying the beautiful Burnaby Mountain Park.
